APCLPS ⏤ The Julius SS18 Collection Explores American Hardcore Music Culture

Julius' Spring Summer 2018 collection is inspired by the American hardcore music culture, a movement that derived from the UK hardcore and punk scene.

Rebellion towards social idealisms, frustrations with surrounding situations, resistance against discrimination, reactions to political situations... Dissatisfaction with what America’s future may hold. The hardcore scene expanded with those who sympathized with the philosophy, and those yearning for violent outlets. American hardcore was a grievous yet beautiful form of rebellion. In a way, the movement was a way to filter and purify the twisted world they were surrounded by.

"The American hardcore concept depicts the current distorted state of the United States. With the rage I feel towards the current issues, I can relate to how the youth must have felt back then. Still, the core of the collection portrays the ‘delicately straightforward sensibilities’ of hardcore. To me, hardcore is a beautiful and innocent noise."
