Sabi Leaves Print Series For Paper Collective by Norm Architects
The Poetry of Decay
Multi-disciplinary design studio Norm Architects releases its third series of art prints with Danish brand Paper Collective.
Combining soft grey tones and graphic presentation with meticulous and detailed photography, the 4 prints in the "Sabi Leaves" series form a tribute to the decay and imperfection whose beauty is often overlooked in nature, architecture and design.
Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen (Partner at Norm Architects) explains the thoughts behind Sabi Leaves by rewording a paragraph from Wabi Sabi for Artists, Designers, Poets and Philosophers by Leonard Koren:
"The Sabi Leaves are expressions of time frozen. They are visibly vulnerable to the effects of weathering. They have recorded the sun, wind, rain, heat and cold in a language of discoloring, rust, tarnish, stain, warping, shrinking, shriveling and cracking. Their nicks, chips, bruises, scars, dents, peeling and other forms of attrition are a testament to their history. Though the leaves may be on the point of dematerialization - extremely faint and fragile - they still possess an undiminished poise and strength of character.”
